ereg_replace

Hi there,

There is probably a real easy solution to this questio, but I can't find it.

I want to replace 🙂 with an image, so far I have got this:

$body = ereg_replace(" 🙁 ", "<img src=\"http://v0od0o.com/images/smilies/d.gif\">", $body);

I have tried escaping the ) aswell, but either way I get this error:Warning:

REG_EPAREN in /home/httpd/vhtdocs/v0od0o/admin/splitnews.php on line 32

Which I have never seen before.

CAn anyone shed any light?

You should use str_replace() as it's much faster for such simple replacements, something like the following will work :

$output = str_replace(' 🙁 ','Why so sad?',$input);

Now regarding what you're doing, this should do the job :

$body = ereg_replace(' :( ', "<img src=\"http://v0od0o.com/images/smilies/d.gif\">", $body);

In otherwords, escape the '(' Have a look here :
