sometimes, I see a @ leading (eg) mysql... commands, eg @mysql...

Can someone help me figure out what exactly it is?

Hi,

The @ leading a commands is to suppress warning messages.

It also surpresses ERROR messages, which is
bad bad naughty bad, don't use, put in a cardbord box and bury in your back garden bad bad naughty bad.

I've seen people break their heads over why something was not working, because they had used the @ sign and forgot to do error_checking, so they never saw the errors that PHP tried to give... so be carefull.
