File name upload problem

Dears,

Concerning the several upload file with the names, userfile1, userfile2, userfile3,
...... When they are uploaded, I would like to put them into the database. But, since the names of the userfile1, ..... are only the temporary filename, how to convert them to the original filenames, thanks

I don't see any way, really, how to keep file name when you upload it via server. But do you really need it? Why do you need to have user-named files on your server? If these files are database-related, it is much better to name them automatically - so that you could know to which database this file relates and to wchich record - for this purpose I use record ID in file name. Besides that, note that if you upload files with their oroginal names, names can be doubled on server - it is not good.

I am not sure whether you mean to get the filename e.g media.gif ?....if it is, then you can try to use ...

<?php echo("$userfile_name") ?>

just add "_name" and then you can get the name of the original file.
