Map IP Address to country

I have the IP Address of the user who has come to my site. I want to map this IP address to the country of his origin. This will help me see where my audience are from. Need a PHP script to do this or atleast a database that I can query.

Use the network function gethostbyaddr(), it resolves the hostname. Split the resulting string to get the country code.

I bet a better way would be to utilize the web server to log hostnames, at least in Apache you can resolve hostnames and log them instead of IPs.

I am sorry , but i also need that and i couldnt get the data from the host name , the host name does not include country name or code ,
what is the best way to do that ( on NT systems... )

I had been trying to find the solution for the above mentioned problem and now have a working version. <br>

For reference, please visit http://www.phpglobal.com and click on "PHP" from left menu and then select "Browser Tracker" from main screen. Scroll Down to find IP's matching to specific countries. For testing different IP, visit "WhoIs" from the previous screen. <br>
