Database Selection

Dear sir,
I want start enterprise portal.Which is supposed to store large amounts of data. And the data has to be processed fast i.e the rerival should be fast. And at the same time it has to support large no of users. And the most important aspect is security.
User level as well as administrative level.
and at the same time it should be cost effective also.
so please help me out in this matter by giving me information about the best database to select on in fulfilling my needs.
that is it can be either
MS SQL Server 7.0 or Oracle 8i database.

And it has to support all the advanced technologies also.
So please reply me soon in detail about this matter by comparing both of these softwares.

Oracle is more flexible (more platforms), more expensive, and a whole lot better. Try the web site for each option and see if they have anything comparing either of them.
