My mail() functions are taking a good 15 seconds each to return over my intranet. Obviously this isn't too great. I don't have a SMTP server on the web server, so I have it directed to my MS Exchange server. In an old post, someone mentioned something about being able to make mail() return just after queueing it, instead of waiting to get a response back that it was sent. I haven't been able to find any more information on this, though. Also, someone else mentioned writing textfiles directly to the Exchange outbox. Thirdly, are there any free/cheap SMTP servers for Windows?
What do you guys/gals recommend to get the emails out at a much better speed?
Thanks!
