How can PHP look at email inbox?

Hello,

How can I use PHP to detect e-mails sent to [e-mail] and remove a record corresponding to the senders email from a database table?

I'm hoping this will be fairly straightforward. If you can share your knowledge I'b be very grateful.

i've actually been interested in doing something like this for a few weeks now.. what i've thought is you couuld have a script (Bash or otherwise) called when the email arrives (easiest with qmail, just make a .qmail in the ~ directory).. which calls a 'wget http://location/?from=[e-mail]&body=blah' kinda thing

if there is a better way, let me know..
