Session Handling Question.

Ok here's my problem:

I've got a page that starts a session using session_start();
session_register("SID");
then I do $SID = session_id(); to get a session id...after that I redirect the user to a new page using header("Location: blah.php");

Now when I go the next page I do session_start(); then echo $SID; but I get the error SID doesn't exist...

Aren't session variables suppose to exist on every page if I do session_start();

So what's my problem here?

i had that problem before and i solved it by going index.php?sid=$sid to that effect. try that.

like what i mean is put that ?sid=$sid in the url of the location when it redirects. You should only have to do this once.

You mean I will have to do that for every page that requires me to check for SID right?

So then what's the point of registering variables if they are gone on the next page?

you'll have to do that every page you register a variable and want it to be used on the next page when you redirect. But after that, it will be carried from page to page like it should. There is probably a better way, but after reading all the annotations and posts from this forum, that is what worked for me on a windows and freebsd machine.

this is what i used on www.token-works.com.. if you look at the code when you register and login, you can see it redirect with the thingy in the url.. it's lame i know 🙂

actually if someone else has a better solution, please post it because i've been doing this for my projects.
