round () problem

I have searched far and wide and cannot find the problem with this. When running:

$x_tax = round($tax,2)

I keep getting

Warning: Wrong parameter count for round() in /www/wholesalemegastore/ebay/step3.php3 on line 44

and even if I replace it with a constant like

$x_tax = round(4.6625454,2)

I get the same error. My webhost is running mySQL 3.22.30 and php 3 if that's a help. I just need a way to get the calculated tax to round to 2 decimal places even if it just drops the remaining decimal places instead of rounding. Any ideas?

The manual says:

Workaround: mutliply by 100, then round, then devide by 100.
Or use printf to print a truncated version of the number.

I was going by:

(PHP 3, PHP 4 )

When I try:

$x_tax3 = ($qty1 $price1 .075);

$x_tax2 = ($x_tax3 * 100);
$x_tax2 = round($x_tax2 ,'2');
$x_tax = ($x_tax/100);

I get the same error. Could you perhaps give me the correct syntax of a line that would do what I'm trying to do?

round() only accepts 1 param, and returns an integer, anyway.

Read me previous post:

in PHP3, round does not have a second parameter

so don't try to use the second parameter in round.

$a=1;
$a=$a*100;
$a=round($a);
$a=$a/100;
echo $a;
