Hi there.. I've created a searchengine with php/mySQL. All works fine.. I now like to create a query that gives results, together with a percentage of the exact match...

something like this: when I query the DB for 'shoe' all entries with 'shoe' have to be returned, together with entries that contain 'shoo' (giving a sort of percentage match - like 75% in this case (ehm.. yes.. 75)...

Also things like searching for a name, like angelique, have to return entries that match this one (ie. 'angeliqu')

Anyone able to point me in the right direction with this problem.. Hope so.

There are functions in MySQL that can compare words and calculate how "alike" the two words are, and even how much a given sentence is like a string in the database. (check the manual for: soundex and full text indexing)
