I am going to discuss exactly what it is that we are doing, with hopes that you can lead me in the right direction, or even better, show me a portion and I can figure out the rest.
We are in the surplus electronics industry and constantly have a vast array of ever-changing products. What we want to do is have an ad that is in template form. All the constant items such as company name, address, policies, etc. will always remain the same and be in the exact same spot on each ad. Since we want the same design for each ad, we wanted an easy way to change the variables that need to be obviously changed for each new product, such as Name, Description, Condition, Weight, location of picture file, etc.
We want a form that will let us input all of the variables that change. Then have it automatically stick those variables in a new ad, that contains all the constants spoken about above. We would like it to create the ad into a html file in which we could place it in the online auctions, on it's own page, or any other method we choose.
This way we can quickly create 100 ads, that look similar, but contain the different products, and we don't have to create every one separately.
Here is one of the snags. On each ad, we are going to have a small form in which people can look up the UPS shipping cost. Inside that form, we need a hidden variable created that has the weight that we inputted on the ad creation page.
Any help would be appreciated. I am, for you information, taking your free course (just started). However, I really need to get this project done quickly for our corporation, and I cannot wait the 16 weeks to learn on my own.
I understand how the variables work, I know HTML fairly well. I just need to know how to get information from one page and inputted into the html file it is supposed to create for our ad.
Warm Regards,
