<img src"x.php?p=001"> in html

Hi,

I havent been using PHP for too long.  Im trying to find a way to call a php script from an img tag in a html file (via <img src"x.php?p=001">) and have the php file output the appropriate image.  

I have tried many things, but can't seem to figure it out.  I get php to locate the appropriate file for output but I cant see to figure out how to output it.

I use this frequestly. <img src="imagefile.php?variable=value"> should work. does it output nothing? or does it a broken image file icon?

You need to send the correct header for the content-type of the image. If the image is a .gif file, you need to send:

Header("Content-type: image/gif");

Likewise, if it were a jpeg, it would be:

Header("Content-type: image/jpeg");

What you need to do is goto PHP.net and check out the manual about images. Here is a sample on how to simply display an image
<?
#if the image is diffrent than a PNG see the manual for support.
$img=CreateImageFromPng("$p.png");
ImagePng($img);
ImageDestroy($img);
?>

That should output the image that is defined by the variable $p. Hope that helps!
