mail function does not working??

Hi I try to send mail from my page ewerything should be alright..... in this text
my script looks like:

katse.php3
<?
mail("[e-mail]", "Test", "Testing testing");
?>
but I am getting this kind of error message:

Warning: Failed to Connect in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\baas\katse.php3 on line 2
whats the problem???

Your php.ini isn´t configured to use a mail server ... or, like in my case,you are testing it through a proxy server...

Anyway... look at your php.ini at:

[mail function]
; For Win32 only.
SMTP = smtp.dude.com

; For Win32 only.
sendmail_from = [e-mail]

; For Unix only. You may supply arguments as well (default: 'sendmail -t -i').
;sendmail_path =

if this part of the ini isn´t properly writen, then PHP can´t conect to the mail server, that´s "Failed to Connect" message...

ps.. Are you testing it at home or directly in the server??

I have the same problem.

this is my php.ini file :

[mail function]
SMTP = smtp.mail.yahoo.fr ;for win32 only
sendmail_from = [e-mail] ;for win32 only
;sendmail_path = ;for unix only, may supply arguments as well (default is 'sendmail -t -i')

And this is the way i try the mail function :

mail('[e-mail]', 'test', 'content ..');

Yahoo is a good mail servcer or not ?
