https and Netscape 4.7

I have developed a finance application with php. The file calls itself for processing ($PHP_SELF). This works perfectly with IE 4 and 5, AOL, and Netscape 6. It blows up with Netscape 4.7. When submit is pressed, the form loads the index page of the web site, instead of processing the form. Has anyone run into this? I am past deadline and really want to get this straightened out asap. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Maybe the posted vars need to be urlencoded??

I forgot 'echo'

ie I had form action= <? $PHP_SELF ?>
and needed form action=<? echo $PHP_SELF ?>

duh....
