Anyone knows how to do this little prog?

Hi,

I'm new to programing and to php. I'm having trouble doing this prog:

I'm accessing a postgres database using php, and i select a field type: timestamp, containing the following data

"2000-10-03 12:00:60.00+01"

knowing the year=2000, month=10 and day=03, i would like to know the day of the week ( monday, tuesday, etc ).

anyone can help me?

is there a function in php that can help do this ?

PHP has the date function that can take many masks. The one you need is:

$day = date('l',mktime(0,0,0,$month,$date,$year));

--> l (lowercase 'L')

You can also let PostgreSql do it for you:

select my_date, date_part('dow',my_date) from my_table;

This will give you the date as you're getting it now, plus the day-of-week.
