Why does $REMOTE_ADDR always give: 127.0.0.1 as the result?

Is that your IP, or does that same result occur on other people's computers?

no, it gives YOUR ip-address - if you are using it at your own computer this is 127.0.0.1.

127.0.0.1 is your "loopback" address, ie the one used by the computer to connect to itself. it's also called "localhost" so if you're running apache on the same computer you're developing on, putting 127.0.0.1 or localhost into your browser will always connect you to the server on your machine.

i am using freedom 2 surf as my host, and it gives the same result with other people's computers. just $REMOTE_HOST = localhost and $REMOTE_ADDR = 127.0.0.1
