mysql insert

hello, in my script there is a spot to enter a new row into a mysql database. For my id number, that just gets inserted as NULL. But jsut recently it stopped working and said it could not insert because the biggest id (127) has already been taken, so it just quits. Why is it trying to enter the row with a id number that is already taken??? Got any suggestions? Thanx!

Your ID number is most likely a TINYINT which has a maximum limit of 127.

I dont know how I could even begin to thank you, you have no idea how much work I was preparing to do, I though I would have to write a script to determine on its own what number to use each time. You were right, I did have it on tiny int, Thankyou!!!
