I read somewhere in here that you should lock your text files after writing to them unless "I want weird things to happen". What does that mean? What happens if I don't lock them? In other words, why should I??
If two or more clients try to update the text file at the same time, and there's no coordination of the updates to the file, bad things (i.e. corruption of the content, missing data that should have been inserted, etc.) can happen.
