Year Difference

Hello.

How does one get the difference between two YEARS ?

ex:

$ThisYear = "2001";
$BirthDate = "1973";

You Are: X Years Old!

subtraction is the most common method.

That's all find and dandie...

But, it just doesn't work for comparing ages!!

If, for instance, I need to know my age.
I was born in December of 1973.

I am not passing a MONTH through (which, is the problem, here).

And, it returns 28, when I am actually 27.

Simply math, in this case, does not work!

Your original question wasn't this specific.

I don't know a really clean way to do it, but if you use date('z', now()) compared to the birthdate then you'll know whether they've had their birthday yet this year and you can correct the year - year error this way.

That's the best solution I could find but I don't think it's totally clean for leap years.
