Check Username/password with NT Domain

I was wondering if it is possible to check a username and password to one on the domain using PHP4. I am using Apache 1.3.19 on a Red Hat Linux 7 machine with Samba installed.

yep - theres code for this posted on zend.com. i also have a samba class to list smb shares and files in a browser if youre interested.

Also, would it be possible to check what user group(s) the user falls into?

i think the only way to do that is use ADSI. currently there is no adsi extension for PHP that i know of.
