Working out percentages of values

Could anyone help me with this problem I am having?

Lets say I have 3 values, 30, 10 and 10. How would I be able to work out the percentages of these using PHP? Giving me the answers of 60%, 20% and 20%?

In other words just how do I work out the percentages of values?

Any help much appreciated!

if you want these values as a percentage of 50:

print(30/50*100);
?>

Here´s one

Function percent($value, $factor)
{
$result = $value/$factor;
return $result."%";
}

Calling this function with

echo percent(30,50);

will output:

60%

There are probably better ways to do this...

forgot to multiply $result with 100 to get the percentage.

Yep. There is ALWAYS a better way. We can make it LESS accurate!

<?
function percent($value, $factor)
{
$result = $value/$factor*100;
$rounded = round($result);
return $rounded."%";
}
echo percent(166,401);
?>

without round() returns
41.39650872818%

with round() returns
41%

Thanks for all your help, but as I'm a still a newcomer I'm still a little hesitant.

Let's saw I've got three other numbers, 354, 11 and 73, how would I be able to work out the percentages of these three very large nunbers?

$factor is the total of your 3 (or however many) numbers.

$value is any one of the 3 (or however many) numbers you are starting with.

For demonstration we are passing examples as arguments to the function N.B started, and I made less accurate 😉
