Hi!

Now I would like to know how to make a timestamp (for example 17:27:09) or just '17:27'. I know that it has something to do with 'time' and 'localtime'-functions but could someone explain more exactly, please 🙂.

And also I need to know how to get the current date (yeah, I bet it has also something to do with time-functions 😉. And more deeply, rather a date without "mon" or "tue" etc, just a plain, numerical date (like 1.1.2001).

Just go to the manual and readup on the date() function.

For time stamp:
$today = date("H:i:s"); // 17:16:17

For current date
$today = date("m.d.y"); // 03.10.01

useful for the date, but remeber date is not a system call... it's a client pull. Server date and time are not displayed, only the client's machine date/time. So if you are coding for time sensitive information, like announcing to a user when the database will get updated based on a timestamp, you'd want to use getdate or something that calls the server's time... not the clients.
