I would like to know how verisign payflowpro
software for credit card transactions can be integrated with a shopping cart in PHP.

You just need to pass the right values to the Versign server for processing.
This is how I have done it:

Of course you could use a form instead of passing the values in the link.

Umm, Payflow Link and Payflow Pro have different interfaces, iirc. Payflow Link is very much as you say. I've never done Pro, but again iirc they provide an api that can be accessed from C so in the worst case you might have create a little C program that you exec() from PHP. In other words, it can't be too difficult.

If you can provide code for integrating payflow pro for a shopping cart which is developed in php, then I will be very thankful to you. Actually there is some urgency to do it because of some deadlines.
