Hi all I'm trying to find info on how to use the PHP_self thing, I've a coupæe of good books but can't find reference to it in them or the manual! I guess I don't know what I'm looking for, is it global vars, or what?

You should look at the global vars sections:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.variables.predefined.php
To get the value of PHP_SELF, simply type:
echo $PHP_SELF;
