Multiple values in cookies?

Starting out with cookies but I have a pretty simple question that shouldn't be too difficult for someone of higher knowledge to answer... As far as I've been reading, you set cookies with this format:

setcookie(name, value, other stuff...);

But from the examples I've seen, the cookies can only store one value...? How can you make them store multiple values in the same cookie if possible. I dislike the idea of sending out two cookies, one for my members' username, the other for their password.

You store the values in an array.

$sample=arra(\"key0\"=>\"1\", \"key=>\"2\", etc.

but remember there\'s a 4kb limit.

Think about explode() function.
You can set cookie like "a=8&p=16&s=54" and after with explode() take all values from one cookie.

BTW: It's a poor idea to store username/password information in cookies. I would hesitate using a package that did that (especially if it were plaintext).

The more I think about it, I think I'll just store the username in the cookie... Afterall, to get to the cookie in the first place they still have to login. 🙂

The more I think about it... If I just store the username in cookies, is it theoretically possible that someone could open the cookie, change the username, and use their identity?

Do cookies allow this, or when tampered mess up in someway? Maybe I will have to store the password in the text file...
