in fact it isn't really, but most of what I know comes from these forums so I thought I'd ask here as its a pretty simple question.
I was talking with a guy (who I think is a tad nieve) who showed me this security system which I think it pretty useless (for anything that needs to be secure)
The word JS = insecure error filled waste of time in my book (he also had a 60kb menu?!) but this is the site...
http://www.jsworld.com/scripts/passwords/pass006.html
It works from using the number to encode value by to generate a value for each entered, but works the same way, ie if you leave the code number as 4...
12345 relates to 54321 in the same way as the encrypted value. Now, not knowing the page where the values are kept may be a slight problem, but surely anyone with a little time can sit down with some paper and decode something like
pErrk to Hello where p=H, E=e and so on?
At least that was the kinda think I did in puzzle books when I was a bored 10 year old!
Well, maybe its more secure than I think, but I'd appreciate some other peoples thoughts on this.
I for one won't be using it for anything sensitive unless some strong evidence is shown to me!
Thanks
