Mail()

I am building an application that will notify a user if they have been denied for approval. What I want to do is send a html page to there outlook. when i recieve the e-mail the tags have not been parsed. how do I do this?

Example

mail("[e-mail]" ,

"Add Document Denial",

"Supivisor $visitor_id has denied your request that <b>$document_number</b> $document_title be added to iso track. Please review the following comments for reson of denial nl2br($refuse_comments)");

the result is

Subject:
Add Document Denial

Message:
Supivisor christopher has denied your request that <b>AM1010</b> Process Flow be added to iso track. Please review the following comments for reson of denial nl2br(your process is flawed, please try another method)");

In the headers variable passed as the last variable in the mail() function, put:

"Content-type: text/html";

and that should tell the reading email proggy that the message is in HTML and not just text/plain.

Dave,
you may be able to help me:
I'm using mail() to send a text report, and hit a problem where a user had
included a single dot (.) on a blank line, and of course this told the mail server to assume this was the end of the mail content, and the email content got truncated.
Would setting the content-type as you told christopher also solve my problem?

Yup - this one is quite simple.

$msg=str_replace("\n.\n", "\n..\n"), $msg);

that will replace all single .s on a line with double ones.

It's part of the SMTP protocol that a dot on its own on a line terminates the message. The double-dot bypasses that.

affect the db content, just the email content.
