borrowing PHP Code

my question is as follows

I person i know has certian PHP code on his website that i wanted to "borrow". Ive tryed alot of things and nothing seems to work.

I was wondering if there is an easy way to get to the code so i can see it. im not going to steal it im going o edit the code to impliment it in another page.

coud some one help me out please?

Tricky stuff here.
You need to have permissions on the persons server to view the code.

Most people that code in php are much a supporter of Open Source and would probably have no problem telling you how they did it. However there are the few that aren't. Unfortunetly, when ever you send an http 'GET' reqest for that document php will parse it and then return it however the author intended. If you can ftp to the site (anonymous FTP) and access that directory (as long as the anonymous acct has sufficient permissions) then you can transfer it without it being parsed. Chances are that won't work so maybe post your situation and someone can help you out with the coding.

If you know that person as you said then just ask him for the code.. so let's assume he/she won't give you the code.. do you really think it would be possible to get that code on an easy way? if it were so, this forum as long as all the php based sites over internet would be as insecure as hell and no body would use it.. i mean.. if you can read php code from web sites you could read users/login password for database servers.. and therefore critical information from e-commerce database customers (credit cards, etc).. of course open source let you share source code, but open source doesn't mean "go and leech others' work"

on the other hand if you really know that guy just go and ask him for the code.
