Change "Browse..." button value

Hi,

I am using
<INPUT Type="File" name="myFile">
for uploading files through the web. This tag creates a text input box along with a "Browse..." button besides it.

Now, is there any way, that I can change the text on the "Browse..." button to something else like "Select..."????

that will change the button's text. If you use type=button instead of type=submit, then the form won't submit when you click it. to later submit it, just call this.frm.submit() in some javascript, and it'll go.

Actually, seriously, I believe that you aren't on the same brainwave as Ravi. The <input type="file"> is a built in form element that essentially adds both a text input plus a button that says browse into one function, plus it does all of the coding for you.. Have you ever used a service like Geocities or Hotmail, where you are attaching or uploading a file, and they have a text box with a button beside it that says "Browse..."? This is what Ravi is talking about. Try it out.. make a page that has that element just to see what he's talking about. <input type="file" name="blah">

Ravi, I don't know of any way to change it, and I doubt that there is. Sorry!!

I have been trying to find the answer to a similar question coz i wanted to change the class of the button (if you assign a class it only changes the box). I think the only way i am going to be able to do it is by creating a form from normal elements and somehow scripting it to behave the same as a type=file tag. ill tell you if i figure it out.
