Why rand() does not work?

I try to use rand function in php but it does not work !!
i use the new version of php (php 4.0.5)
its work with old version (php 4.0.4)!!
any body can help me pleasseeeee???

Are you using it in conjunction with srand() ?

The reason it does not work is that you are not using srand(), check it out on the manual

www.php.net/manual/en/function.srand.php

The manual is the very best source for info. If something doesn't work as expected check there first.
