PHP and VB integration

Well, this question may sound trivial. But I have an application in VB with Access Database at the backend and a website that runs on PHP and Mysql (on linux).

I need to integrate the two applications or more say.. synchronize the data between the web and the client software whenever required.

Given this combination (PHP & V😎, What would be the best way to exchange data between the two applications ?

Would XML/XML-RPC be a good feasible solution ? If so, How? I would like to know the opinions of other PHP experts here. If you think of any other better way, do mail me or post it here.

Is there a good reason not to just import the data from the access database and then get rid of it alltogether? 🙂
(probably can connect to mySQL from VB just as easily using ODBC ?)

Short of that, it might be a case of keeping logs of all executed SQL on the one database, and then importing the file into the other as required.... (there is probably a good converter around for any differences in syntax)
