Creating Dir on the fly Question

Hi All

I'm Creating Dir on the fly and then copy several files to that dir. all is well.
but the only problems is I lose Ownership

Explaination:
The server is a rented domain.
if the files are not copied to the dir then all is well, if the files are copied then I lose Ownership. What is Ownership? From What I understand it's who the files belong to.
I lose all control over that Dir. even using my FTP Client.

So is there a way to manager the Ownership of files amd dir if so please help...

If it is unix server you may execute chown() function.

int chown (string filename, mixed user)

The root of a problem is that you copying you files and creating dir by unix user under which Apache or php is running. I think usually it is not the same as your login name. Try using this function after copying your files: chown($myFTPlogin) there $myFTPlogin is your FTP username.
