HTML, PHP or JAVASCRIPT question?

Bonjour,

When looking at some HTML source page, i found something strange:

Some site use javascript function (in a form for exemple, <form 'toto' ... onchange'goUrl(www.toto.com)' >) whithout any

<SCRIPT language="JavaScript">goUrl("..."){....}</SCRIPT>

in their pages sources.

I would be interested in delete all <script src='javascript.js'></script> in my all webpage.

Does someone knows how it works ?

Hi Arlo,

In the page you describe, the functions referred to in the event handlers are present at the top of the page, inside the <head> and </head> tags.

Perhaps my Netscape give me wrong source, but what i see into the tags <head>...</head> is stricly:

Is my Netscape sick or should i buy some glasses ;-) ?
I really don't see which tags are use to reach the javascipt functions.

Hi Arlo,

I've just looked at the page again, and I think it is Netscape, and not your glasses which are at fault.

There is a line in the JavaScript which tells the browser to write some more code. I'm using IE6 and don't get the <LAYER> tag that you do, but if your browser supports LAYERS (NN4+), then this LAYER is written to the page.

It is quite bizarre as the author has a BODY element printed in the HEAD section, but we won't worry about that.

To conclude, it looks as though it is only Netscapes source viewer which is at fault.

If you're using windows, type view-source:http://dev.nexen.net/ into the Start>Run box to get a look at the source.
