imagecreate and gd library

hello, i'm sabrina from italy
i need a great help from someone of you...

My administrator installed PHP 4.0.4 pl1 with the gd library 1.84 on a server linux 6.2

But when i write a little script to generate an image it answer on my browser

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagecreate() in .../stat1.php on line 69

Now this is the problem..
what can we do?
whe recompile the php and install all the library
someone can help us?

i nedd the imagecreate function to generate a graphic..

Hi Sabrina!
Strange behavior ...
Take a look at your phpinfo().
In the row Configure Command do you have a statement similar to
'./configure' 'bla bla' 'bla bla''--with-gd=/usr/local' 'bla bla'?
/usr/local is the path where your gd library is

In other words, are you sure that your administrator really compiled php for gd library support?

It's really an easy task.Delete your php rpms and download the source code. Then compile!

i try
/configure --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --with-apache=/opt/packages/apache
_1.3.19 --enable-track-vars --with-gd
=/usr

also

/configure --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --with-apache=/opt/packages/apache
_1.3.19 --enable-track-vars --with-gd
=shared

where is the problem?
