HELP URGENT RECOVER DATAAAA!!

Hello -

ok, im a novice at this...and i just deleted all of the etries in my 1500 entry mysql database. =( =(

here's what i did:

delete from songs where id=23 or 899;

i wanted it to delete the songs with id 23 or 899... but it deleted EVERYTHINg. can i recover the data???

the data appears to be there... the size of the table is still big - but whatever i ask it to select return "empty set"

help!

Well.

I believe that when you say "or 899" it just checks to see if its "23" or if 899 exists. and since 899 is there it sets it to true and deletes everything.

You can't recover your data. Next time, have daily database dumps of your mySQL database for recovery.

Just for future reference, be sure to include the field name in EACH of the or statements like this: "DELETE from <table name> where id='<something>' OR id='<something else' OR differentid='<something else>';

I think we've all done something like this at one time or another. 🙂

mysql is not as powerful as oracle

once u say --
delete from tablename;
it returns u that 0 rows affected
but it actually has no data ie data is deleted

so better have a backup
