How to split strings?

Well, i have a long string and I want to sort it:

$startpos = strpos ($text1, "The Province of");
$text2 = substr ("$text1", $startpos);

So i ignore everyhting that comes before that text.

After that comes something like this:

land
peasants
employment
utilization
money
food
runes
trade balance 750 acres
4524
100%
etc.

How can i read one line at a time from that string and split it into several strings like $1="land" , $2="peasants" etc??

I am doing something similar, and I haven't tried this myself yet, but I -think- you can do the following:

$array = split('\s', $text1);

then each line will be in an element of that array (i.e. $array[0], $array[1], etc.). If that doesn't work, you might try

$array = split('\s+', $text1);

the \s is just a regular expression for whitespace, and I'm not sure if it implies any number of whitespace characters or exactly one whitespace character. the + generally indicates "one or more" of the preceding expression.

$tekst = split('\ ', $formatedC😎;
