Passing information between frame

hi everyone,

my page got two frames on it. In frame1.php4, i have a button and two input text. When the user press the button, i'd like that frame2.php4 research a database in mysql with information that is in frame1.php4.

I just want to know how i can make the two frames to interact together. how can i make frame2.php4 to reload?

anyone got a clue?

in frame1, if submitted, dynamically build a javascript (eg body onload) that only starts when frame1 reloads and causes frame2 to reload.

attach the form data to the form2 url included in the javascript.

I looked that up in SELFHTML which is in german (www.teamone.de/selfhtml) but a very good resource ...

javascript for loading a document into another frame:
parent.frames[1].location.href = "page2.php";

i dont think this is possible in php alone because of its concept: php is server-side and doesn't know anything about the frameset the user actually has in his client.

Don't you just need a target in your form tag?

<form name="form1" method="post" action="" target="frame2">

or did I misunderstand the question?

by specifying target="frame2", the frame2.php will automatically reload?

and how can i access from frame2.php to data in input text in frame1.php....
