Logic/Algorithm help needed

Hey all,

I'm desperatly trying to create an algorithm to build a page looking like http://www.lkff.nl/8pl_dbl_knockout.gif

I've been staring at this thing for hours now but every time i think i've found a logical way to build the page it's no good.

I really need help on this, so if anyone ever did a project like this or is willing to spend some time helping me figure out i'd really appreciate it 🙂

And before anyone starts flamin'... I intend to program it in php... no worries hehehe 🙂

Ow... this system is also know as the 'double elimination tournament' or 'double knockout'...

any help greatly appreciated... 🙂

Just for explanation, I'm trying to build a tournament organiser. So i pretty much have to figure out the logic behind this scheme be4 i can do any real coding 🙁
