getting the server to work

I made a visitor logging script but I want it to reset the amount of visitors/day at midnight. Is it possible to get the server that is hosting my site to carry out specific tasks at intervals throughout the day?

Maybe your server admin would have a better idea about that than we would.

Why not just have the visitor logging script check the current date against a "reporting date" stored somewhere. If the dates are different, the script could reset your counters and update the "reporting date" to the current date.

This might be easier than setting up a cron job if you don't have that kind of control over your server.

yeah, i was thinking of that, having the first person to visit the next day reset the log. Just thought there might be some way of doing it at a set time
