replace a var in a var

Hello,

this is a tough one (probably just for me 😉):

I have got a variable which looks like this:

$var='bla $abc bla';

now i transfer $var to a class. This class knows the value of $abc and I want to re-evaluate $var:

$abc="bla";

which means $var is "bla bla bla"

any ideas?

obviously this works with eval...

$string = 'cup';
$name = 'coffee';
$str = 'This is a $string with my $name in it.<br>';
echo $str;
eval ("\$str = \"$str\";");
echo $str;

yes..

1) dont put a $ in your string...i think php will replace this with the value of the var and if it dosent exsit it will replace it with nothing..

2) i would do this

$var="replace %this%";

$var = str_replace("%this%",$abc,$val);

that should work quite well

I just mention it..
php only replaces variables within a string if you use " double quotes

$abc='the value of abc';
echo "this is $abc"; // will output this is the value of abc
echo 'this is $abs'; // will output this is $abc
