Anchor Tag Generation

I have an intersting problem. I am generating anchor tags dynamically using php. When I use these anchor tags in Netscape they do not work but, but in IE 5.5 they do. Has anyone ever seen this.

Run the generated page through a HTML validator. Netscape is much less forgiving thatn IE. You likely just have a minor HTML error.

I did this and everyhing HTML code is fine. To make things even stranger when I run the code generated by the script as static html the anchor tags work in Netscape.

I have the same problem, Nav 4.76 doesn't like the anchors, IE 5 and Nav 6.1 do. W3C (3.2) validator says the generated source is ok. I saved the generated source to a static .html file, 4.76 still doesn't like it. I have one statically generated anchor at the top of the page, which works under 4.76. The dynamically generated anchors are inside a table (within <td> tags), perhaps 4.76 just doesn't like anchors inside of tables?

I encountered this problem, too, but discovered that it was caused by a syntax error in my anchor name which contained an errant #. For example, the named anchor syntax should be <A NAME="One"></A> not <A NAME="#One></A>. On the other hand, the link to the named anchor uses the # as in <A HREF="#One">Go to Paragraph One</A>. IE 5 was forgiving, but Netscape Communicator 4.72 wasn't. Hope this is the solution to your problem.
