how do i get results to list in order.

could some one tell me or give me a link on how to show results in a specific order. like if i want to go from the time it was post or alphabetically, etc. i can only get my results posting from which it finds first. not in any order

i mean like on ebay, you can sort the results by price, date posted, date ending, etc. I have a news column where i want the latest post on top, but its always the bottom one b/c it was the last to be put in the database. so how can i sort the results so it would be at the top, and the oldest would be at the bottom of the page

If you retrieve you 'data' from lets say MySQL, you could use ORDER BY <fieldname> ASC or DESC ...

If you want it done the PHP way, you're in for some heavy coding lessons.
