can php run within a .htm file?

Is it possible to run php from within a .htm file ... I am trying to use the .hta file format to create an instance of internet explorer and the files need to be named .hta to run.

You just need to tell the server to parse files with the .htm extension as php files. The easiest way to do this is to put an .htaccess file in your root directory with the following line:
AddType application/x-httpd-php htm

All files with the .htm extension will then be parsed as php files.

Yes it's all a matter of telling your web server to parse .htm files as php code. This can cause some slowdown on static HTML pages named with the .htm extension because they will also be parsed through PHP, but I've never noticed a problem with it.

I am using the PHP ISAPI DLL with IIS 5.0 and this does not work ... when I load the .hta file it shows me text in the browser (source code that is) ...

.HTA is the HTML application extension and is recognized by Internet Explorer as such ...

when I convert my .php file to a .hta file I just get the text.

any more ideas please ...
