anybody who is well versed with linux and can help me AT ALL or point me somewhere in the right direction. i know this isn't a coding question it is a linux hardware question, but I have exhausted my resources and don\t know where to go.
k, here it is. i am in europe installing servers for my employer. i installed a second network card in my mandrake-8.0 linux server. after installing this card, before it was even configured, upon logging into my server the login times out, and kicks me back to the login.
i removed the second card, but the problem persists. after troubleshooting, i narrowed it down to the /etc/init.d/network script that is causing the error. so i disable this, and login works. when i run network from the command line, i get and error that says something along the lines of:
initializing eth0: got irq 10 for dev 00:0b.0
irq already in use by dev 00:07.2
irq already in use by dev 00:07.3
i am going mad. so, i tried many many things. i ran kudzu to look for removed hardware... i removed my only network card, ran kudzu, reinstalled it, ran kudzu again. i changed the irq in the bios, and disabled unused pci slots. i had the bios redect pci devices. even when i change irq, the error changes to match the new irq, but it doesnt help. everything i do does not affect the error. if anybody can help PLEASE. it is now 10pm here, i am hungry and tired, and dead @!#$ if i can't get this going.
thanks
