How do I find the length of an array??

Hi,

I guess I'm a real newbie...but I haven't been able to find a function to return the length of an array...am I missing something totally obvious here? I tried looking in the array functions section of the manual, but I didn't think I saw anything...just a simple function to find how many elements are in an array?

Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I use sizeof like this,

$arr = array("1", "2", "3", "4");

for ($i = 0; $i < sizeof($arr); $i++) {
echo("item $i = $arr[$i] <br>");
}
