refresh, load new page

i've got a form and after the user submits this form, he has to be forwarded to an other page. is there any way to do this without using 'header()'? (i can't use this because i've to send some data to the browser before)

Output buffering, I'm not so sure of the specifics but I know this question has been asked before with answers provided on OB'ing

Hello Snaut,

send out a normal html page (with the data u want to display in the msg <body>). include in your html some html headers (not php headers) containing <meta> tags within your <head> tags. these will perform the redirections after a certain amount of time (set to you).

e.g.:
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="15; url=nextpage.php?">

the content accepts the number of seconds as the first param, and the url of the page to redirect to as the second param.

I haven't tried this, but you could try and use a bit of javascript to load a different page when the page is submitted.

javascript: window.location.href = 'yourpage.php';

Execute this using the ONSUBMIT event:

<FORM NAME="formName" ONSUBMIT="return true; window.location.href = 'yourpage.php';"

well, i actually was able to work-around my problem using 'ob_start()' and 'ob_end_flush()' ... thanks alot!

I'm having a similar problem and I'd really like to know how you solved yours?

I need to load another page, and submit some variables to it along the way, so the call looks (something) like this:

http://wwww.pagename.php3?search=1&area=$area

area is a variable input by the user in a select box field

The user presses a submit button to do the submit on the form

The form post action doesn't, for some reason, collect the variable properly - I'm looking into that too
