Checking to see if a page is secure???

My problem is this: Although we require passwords and usernames in the scripts, in addition to a .htaccess verification. There is still some paranoia around the office. This is why we have a secure cert from Thawte.

Some folks in our company refuse to type https: in front of the admin url of our company. (oh the humanity 🙂) Is there anyway to check for a secure connection using PHP. I have searched high and low in the doc's and online. At this point I would settle for a simple JavaScript solution 🙂

Any help that could be offered would be great!

Well you can always check what port they connected to. Normally a non secure connection is on port 80. A secure connection for example would be on 443.

So if you know what port your SSL is on, then just use $SERVER_PORT variable to get what port the client connected to on the server.

I did not think of that, I will check into this. As it stands right now, I think that SSL is configured to listen to both 80, and 443.

I will report back on my findings very soon.
