how can i use exec() in php

I am a new user in php.I am facing a problem
if anybody can help me.I have a php3 file which is basically for banner managment now i have to execute this file in few html files i am using exec() comand for this and change all the html file to shtml but its not working.can i use exec() command for php.if yes,what is the correct syntax. if no then is there any other way through which i can include php3 file in the shtml file.B'cas i can't change htnl file to php3.

pl help me.i am in trouble.

If I understand your problem correctly you should try using the require() function (and those in the same cathegory).

Take a look at the virtual() function in the manual. It will exec your shtml scripts and include the output within a php file.

Actually i want to include php3 files in .shtml file.right now it is including but not parsing the php3 code.i am including like this:

and in test2.inc,I am using this code:
