Connection to mysql breaks down...

After fixing the fopen() problem I was finaly able to write my email adresses to a mysql db.
But after havin written about a third (aprox. 2500) of them into the db, the script tells me: "cant connect to mysql on .....".
Another weird moment...

Does anyone have a clue what THIS might be and how to fix it. How about a persisten connection to mysql?

What about the max. execution time in PHP & the MySQL parameter corresponding to that PHP-variable? Sorry, but don't remember how it's called =(

Thanx Oliver but it had nothing to do with that....
The problem was: I had an array and handed on element to a function that opened a connection to the db wrote the element into the db and closed the connection.
Now I´m opening a connection traversing all the elements writing them to the database and after this job is finished I close the connection...
So it seems that (the) mysql (sockets) can´t handle very fast connects / disconnects. That´s the only way I can explain that.
