Receiving XML over HTTP..

Hi,

How do I solve this..

I'm to receive an XML document over HTTP, and I want PHP to process this document.

I understand how to process XML documents if they are local files, but how do I open or store a document pushed straight in over a HTTP connection..

If the document was stored in a variable, I could get the information. But coming straight in on a HTTP connection ??

I'm mystified..

Any suggestions ??

Here is the start of an example document.. How do I store the information for proccessing ?

$xml_doc = join("", file("http://www.go.com/your_file.xml"));

Now your xml doc will be in a variable and you said you can handle that right? 🙂

Nice try, but no cigar :-)

Basically, what I really need, is a way to access the raw data coming after the HTTP header:

If I could poll the file from some URL, everything would be nice. But I can only get it pushed to my server..

have you tried $HTTP_POST_VARS?

Actually since his data does not have name/value pairs it won't make it into $HTTP_POST_VARS.

The variable you are looking for is $HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA. This is a special variable only available when data is posted that does not have name/value pairs. If the posted data has name/value pairs, it goes to $HTTP_POST_VARS and $HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA is not created. If there are no name/value pairs then $HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA is created and HTTP_POST_VARS remains empty.

This is what you were looking for, no?

This is precisely what I need.

I will play a bit with it during the weekend and post a follow-up later. But it seems like just the thing.

I expect this method of transfering data securely will grow widespread quite soon. So having the solution documentet will be helpful in the future.
